We made it to Korea! I’m going to try to get out the first post here while I’m still trying to shrug off some jet-lag, so apologies if anything is a bit odd!
I left Colorado early Thursday morning and flew to San Fran to catch this big plane headed to Seoul, South Korea.
Our little lego bride and groom traveled with Beth to Korea.
The flight took about 12 hours. The flight attendants spoke very little English, but were kind, and came around with orange juice and water every hour or so. I got to take in a few movies, read some magazines, dozed a bit, and tried to get up and walk around as much as I could. I also got my first taste of Korean cuisine – they served bibimbop for dinner. Basically it’s a build-your-own rice bowl, with cooked rice, veggies, meat, and sauces. Mix to taste and enjoy!
Yum! Bibimbop with cod soup and melon. Airline delicious.
When I landed in Seoul, I had to collect my bags, go through customs, then get on a bus for a half hour ride to the other airport for my domestic flight to Jeju Island. One little snafu – none of my bags arrived. So welcome to Korea. Neither of my checked bags got on the flight from San Francisco. Joy. I got to play Kor-glish charades trying to describe my bags, give them a delivery address, and hope they eventually get the bags to me at our apartment in Jeju.
So I made it to the island – the last flight was uneventful and Patrick met me at the airport in Jeju. One of the Korean staff members drove us back from the airport to our apartment and I collapsed into bed. That was Friday night local time. No luggage arrived Saturday or today (Sunday), so we’re hoping I get some fresh clothes tomorrow! Going on day 4 in the same pants. 🙂
Check out the next post(s) for the apartment tour, details of our first grocery shopping trip, some first days exploring, and more!
