Orientation Course…

This post is going to be a bit interesting, especially for those of you who are used to my normal posts. Instead of talking and reflecting on my everyday life, I will be reflecting on a set of questions that were posed for my Administration and Supervision Certifciate program. As you read on, the questions will be highlighted with my response below.

What are your expectations for this program? What do you hope to accomplish?

I am very excited about the JHU/ISTE program in general. My expectation is that it will be challenging. The program will definately test my ability to manage time, and my schedule in an effective manner (and I am hoping it will force me to become better at it). I am hopeful that the program will teach me valuable skills in a way that will allow me to grow in my personal and professional life. It is nice to have a program that is so aligned with my own personal goals. By the end of the program, I hope that I have a better understanding of my profession, how I fit into it, and what my goals are regarding school administration.

Now that you have a good sense of the types of online activities and the rhythms of an active participant, what steps will you take to be successful in this program?

Step 1: Calendar! As I found out in the first week, I really need to ensure that I have everything for my class mapped out on my personal calendar. It is too easy for me to double book on important matters without that in place. It will also be important for me to map out time in my daily schedule to complete the course tasks and stay current on the discussions.

Where do you still need additional support to be successful?

This is always a hard question. Right now, I am not particularly motivated. Some of that has to do with it being summer, and having other projects and deadlines on my plate. As the summer progresses and I have a chance to meet some of the other cohort members, I am hoping that my motivation will increase.

    Victor-
You seemed to have learned a lot about yourself as an online learner, your classmates, the elc and the structure of this course in two short weeks. You have a great network of people here in the course; which I think you have seen already in two short weeks. Be sure to reach out to your classmates, instructor or folks at JHU for inspiration and motivation! You can do it!
