TechieCatholic

As it turns out you can mix your realities of work, pleasure, and spirituality. Four years ago, I was fortunate enough to go through the Rights of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). From that Easter forward, I have been a catholic in good standing. Since you are in my blog, you must realize that I am a technical professional (meaning that I work with technology – not that I am “technically a professional now). As a techie, I infuse all of my interactions with the world with a wide range of technology. God is one of the few areas of my life that was non-technical – aside from sudo.

When I was going through the process, I found ways to infuse technology into the reality that was unfolding around me, the sacraments of initiation. I did not think much of it and went on to continue to practice a pen and paper Catholicism of books and internal spirituality.

Then I moved to Korea! Our closest church was about 5 miles away in a little fishing town on the coast but it was in Korean. It ended up becoming our local parish, despite the language barrier. What was missing from our faith was the community of Catholicism, simply because we could not communicate with it.

My spiritual guide once told me that as a catholic.

Pursue and love God with all your mind.
